David's Psalm of Thanks

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name;

make known among the nations what he has done.

Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.

Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

Look to the LORD and his strength;
seek his face always.

Remember the wonders he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,

O descendants of Israel his servant,
O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

He is the LORD our God;
his judgments are in all the earth.

He remembers ^[b] his covenant forever,
the word he commanded, for a thousand generations,

the covenant he made with Abraham,
the oath he swore to Isaac.

He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant:

"To you I will give the land of Canaan
as the portion you will inherit."

When they were but few in number,
few indeed, and strangers in it,

they ^[c] wandered from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another.

He allowed no man to oppress them;
for their sake he rebuked kings:

"Do not touch my anointed ones;
do my prophets no harm."

Sing to the LORD, all the earth;
proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
he is to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but the LORD made the heavens.

Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and joy in his dwelling place.

Ascribe to the LORD, O families of nations,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength,

ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name.
Bring an offering and come before him;
worship the LORD in the splendor of his ^[d] holiness.

Tremble before him, all the earth!
The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"

Let the sea resound, and all that is in it;
let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!

Then the trees of the forest will sing,
they will sing for joy before the LORD,
for he comes to judge the earth.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

Cry out, "Save us, O God our Savior;
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
that we may glory in your praise."

Gods mercy on us EVERY DAY is so awesome hey? This man, i make no excuse for what he has done, but the Lord said himself "THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE NO SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE." From the moment His blood was shed on the cross till now not one human being on this planet can or ever will pick up a stone to cast it. WE ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF HIS GLORY. Put On the Full Armor of God

Last week we were discussing what topic to use for our sunday bible study at church because our resources are very limited, then one of our churchmates has these Lifeway magazines and She suggested that I may take a look at these magazines and use these for our bible study. So I did and these magazines are very good to use. Very informative and very neat as the explanations of every verse and chapter are well detailed. Then one of the pages really caught my attention and made me realized that I truly need this to put on, the armor of God. And I wanna share to you the content of the page that caught my attention and I hope that it will do the same to you. PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Be strong in the Lord in His mighty power put on the full armor of God. We are His army. The war rages on and Christ our king has called us to arms, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes - hypocrisy, rumor, injustice, vengeance, lies, hatred, pornography, slander, brawling, drunkenness, deceit and every seductive lie of the emeny.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood. For life is eternal and our enemies war for the souls of mankind. But against the rulers and the authorities of this dark world. And against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore put on the full armor… not half… the full.. not as much as you feel comfortable wearing… not as much as is politically correct… not only enough to cover your backside…

THE WHOLE

Even 90% is inadequate.

The whole armor of God.

So that when the day of evil comes (and know this, it will come), when the forces surround you and there seems to be nowhere to go but down, when you have been ridiculed and mocked, accused, subjugated and hammered, you’ll be like the house Jesus built.

The winds will come and the waves will crash down upon you like the raging rapids of hell. But You’ll stand. You will stand.

YOU WILL STAND

stand your ground. Stand at attention. Like the three children before Nebuchadnezzar.

Like Moses before Pharaoh.

Like David before an ugly sneering giant.

You’ll stand like Jesus at the flamming portals of hades demanding the keys of destruction. You will stand undistracted. Totally determined. No demon can touch you if you stand regaled with the shining armor of God.

You will stand and no weapon shall prosper, no arrow can touch you.

You have been called into service of God who is all powerful, all loving, all knowing, all right and all ready!

Are you ready?

Will you put on the armor?

Will you fight for a good fight?

Will you sieze the gates of hell?

Will you triumph agaisnt the undefeated warrior?

Will you reserve your place at the victory celebration?

Will you find your place next to Stephen and John the baptist at the ticker tape parade of glory?

Will you finish the course?

Will you fight the good fight?

THEN TAKE UP THE ARMOR.

What the cross means to you?

What does it symbolise for you?

We have different perspective about this cross depending on our status in life like religion or beliefs. Some interpret cross as a thing that can only be seen in churches with a man being nailed to it. For some it is a sign that they need to do whenever and wherever they see a church as a sign of respect(I think). Some are saying it is an instrument use for casting evil spirits away and sad to say for other this cross is like an accessory or icon. They just wear it or use it not because of its significance but because they just want to.

There was a pastor in America who was eating at one of the restaurants in New York who encountered a young waitress with this cross thing as her accessory and the story goes like this. The waitress brought the salads and drinks to the pastor’s table and he was curious. There was a 20-something with a cross tattoo, cross earrings, and a cross necklace. Curiosity got the best of him and he had to say something about it. Certainly this was one of the postmodern looking, hip-believers that was shining the light in the dark world. Studying at her large secular university whose stadium cast a shadow on the restaurant were the pastor and his buddy were taking their lunch, he had to ask. He said, “So wow! you’ve got this whole cross thing going on. Tell me what that’s about.”

She looked at the pastor little bewildered. And then the light went on in waitress’ head. “Oh the crosses. It’s just kind of my personal favorite. Uh, you know, an icon. I just think it’s pretty.”

The pastor really was not expecting that answer. So he followed up, “So you mean that the cross is- a neat symbol? Symbol of what?”

“I don’t know. I just like it”

“Oh” He just said in a mousey voice, “I see.”

At that moment the pastor realized how strangely secular their conservative city had become. The cross, which for the him was the symbol of the path of his life, was now reduced to a clothing and tattoo accessory.

For The waitress, the cross is just an accessory.

For the Pastor, it is the symbol of the path for his life.

What about You? What is the essence or representation of the cross for you?

Most of us especially those christians, this cross is more than just an accessory or clothing thing as for me it represents redemption, salvation, life, and death of Christ for all His humanity to have fellowship with the almighty God again and to restore that hope that once was lost.

What about on Jesus’ days what was this cross for them?. As we can see on different movie versions of the crucifixion of Jesus, the cross was usually using for criminals where the condemned person is tied or nailed to it and left to hang until dead.

Since I became a christian, when I see or hear cross it reminds me of Jesus’ unfailing love for me, a love that I really never deserve to have for I am a sinner. But my understanding is too far away compare to Jesus’. All I know is that the love of Jesus is beyond everything else. As in everything else… Everything else… Everything else… that He came to a point of dying on the cross for my shame just to show how much love He has for me, how much He is willing to accept me and how much He can give just to bring me back to His family. He was crucified on that cross that once was using for criminals.

For Paul the cross means the power of God when he wrote to the corinthians. He said in 1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

I Heart Jesus

“There is a god-shaped vacuum in the heart of everyone that only God can fill through His son Jesus Christ”. -Blaise Pascal

Jesus said in John 14:15&21 15“If you love me, you will obey what I command. 21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” (NIV). I entitled these verses as I HEART JESUS. Maybe You you wonder ” Why I Heart Jesus?”. For me this I heart Jesus means like we are putting Jesus in our hearts or maybe I can say we are making Jesus as our very own heart. Jesus said he came to the world to give life and not to judge the world “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” -John 6:51 NIV.

Like Jesus in our spiritual life, heart serves as the powerhouse of the whole body system of a human and without heart no one will be able to live or survive by otself. Every cell which is the building block of a living thing has its own powerhouse and that is the mitochondria. But we are more than a cell, we are human beings composed of billions and billions of cells, as a system that is made up of group of cells and organs, mitochondria is not enough to be our powerhouse in order for our whole system to operate, that is why God gave us heart to use to pump the blood with oxygen through our entire body. One more good thing about us, we are not just humans of this world and we have another being that is higher than any living creature, our spiritual being. We, each of us has soul and this soul won’t be able to live of its own if it does not its very own heart who is Jesus, for Jesus is the heart of salvation.

Jesus gives life to our spiritual being, without Christ in our heart we are not deserving to be called christians, and without Christ there is no life as well. Jesus had loved us even before we were yet to be born in this world or even our grandparents, and that love that I am talking about was proven through the cross. Through the cross Jesus showed us what his love to his people is all about and how much he loves us that HE would rather die than live without us. Jesus has “hearted” us from the very beginning of everything.

Now that we have met Jesus and known that what He has done for us, it is now our turn to love him back, to show that we heart Jesus and we are ready to follow what He commands us to do as His followers and Lovers of Christ.

Since now Christ is living in us or in our hearts and love him the most, we can now call ourselves as “Jesus-hearted christians” . Jesus said in Matthew 22:37-38 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind this is the FIRST and GREATEST commandment”.

• If we love Jesus, we should follow Him.
• If we love Jesus, we should take up our own cross and do what Christ commands us to.
• If we love Jesus, we should take His words in our minds and hearts.
• If we love Jesus, we should we should let Jesus control and take over our hearts.
• And most of all Jesus said if we love Him, we will be loved by his father and by Him and show himself to us.

“Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my father and I too will love himand show myself to him” -Jesus (John 14:21).

That promise is very amazing and so wonderful to know. What does it mean? It means and assures us that we will go to heaven and individually we’ll present ourselves to God and hear the words that every believer longs to hear,

“Well done my good and faithfull servant” -Matthew 25:21.
