One day Jesus said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, He fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Master, master, we're going to drown!" He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging seas, the storm subsided and all was calm. - Luke 8:22-24
The month of August for this year has not been so good to us. Some of us are still suffering from the aftermath of the weather disturbances that have passed over the northern part of our country. There were typhoon Gener, the monsoon or habagat, Helen and today a newly-formed storm named Igme.
During the time of crisis, like this, I mostly think of the verse John 16:33 where it says "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
God is with us so who can be against us? God doesn't give us trials that we can't overcome. God will never leave nor forsake us. Those are the phrases that I usually hear, if I believe in those sayings, then
why worry? Why doubt?
I will just continue to lean on to God, continue to trust Him and pray to reveal me what He wants me to learn everytime a trial like this comes.
I may worry for a bit, but I will make sure that most of the time I will continue to trust God. That He is in control no matter how bad the situation looks. That with just one word from His mouth, the
weather and seas will be at peace right away.
